Times like these...

Things are changing.. yesterday, one of my good friends Trent, who left today for the Naval Academy, sent me a text "We're not kids anymore.." and I honestly stopped and thought about that. It's true. We aren't kids anymore.. I wondered exactly how much time we spend wishing we could grow up.. wishing we were in the future, to be a teenager, to get our permit, to get our licenses, to graduate, to start college, to turn 21, to get married to kids. It never stops. Then, once that landmark gets here, I find myself wondering how the heck I missed everything behind me! It's twisted, and bittersweet for sure. Now, on to what I've been up to.

I've spent the last few nights really hanging out with my friends who won't be at Alabama next fall.. really in two weeks (12 days to be exact). This included my very best friend Sarah, who is going to Marymount Manhattan to pursue her dream of acting (she's SO talented), Trent, who's playing lacrosse at the Naval Academy, Connor, who's heading to Auburn (I haven't forgiven him yet) and lots more.

And today, my sister comes back from a mission trip she took with our church to Chicago, and she comes back in the nick of time.. Ames turns 15 tomorrow! AHH! I can't believe my only baby sister will be able to get behind a wheel tomorrow.. Lord help us all. I'm excited for tonight, my family (including AMES! I can't wait to see you), and my god-parents and family will be at my house to eat a great meal! I think Sarah is coming too, which just makes my day! I love good get togethers surrounded by friends and family.. makes me proud to be italian in a way. Anyway, here's a few pictures of my last few days!

Lace and Ruffles.. can't go wrong. Or can you?

I have had such a GREAT day! I am so lucky, my godsister Kate, is recently engaged to Tim, who we love. And for my dad (hardcore italian spirit) to admit that when talking about the man who is about to marry his goddaughter, we're making great strides!! There is hope for my sister and I and our boys of choice!! Anyway, she asked me WEEKS ago to go look at wedding dresses along with her mother, and her best friend Allison. Well of course I couldn't pass it up! I'm a sucker for these kind of things... I'm definetely a planner, and I can't wait to help Kate out with as many wedding plans as I can, and although I'm not a bridesmaid (not holding that against her, just shows how many friends she has) I have been asked to be a part of the wedding party!! Including the most important, bacherlorette weekend.. MY FIRST! I can't wait!

Moving on (can you tell I'm ADD?) we left Kate's house around 8:15, and drove ab0ut an hour away to the oldest Bridal store in Alabama, called 'Something Blue', where we found 2 gorgeous gowns (both lace, and trumpet style), and I must brag quickly.. Kate wasn't sure she was feeling the lace, but I begged her to try it.. she was very willing! And my lace choice ended up being a major contender.. arguably the favorite! YAY! I did make her try on one with ruffles, and bless her heart it was so NOT Kate! But she humored me anyway... such a good sister!

Next, we drove to Jasper, to 'Diane's' and although they closed at 4 today, I called ahead and had them go ahead and pull dresses that fit our guidelines and sizes. She tried several, very rushed, and then.. walked out in the most beautiful dress of the day. I am such a schmuck, before I knew it, tears were rolling down my cheeks, and the dress saleswoman was running me the tissues! Soon, she put a half veil on Kate, and I really think this was when Kate felt like a BRIDE! And we were allll in tears (almost all..)! We did not purchase the dress, but we certainley have not forgotten, and we will return ASAP for another go at THE dress!

Overall, it was a special day that I got to share with my godmother, and my godsister. I was so overwelmingly happy and more importantly exhuasted, that I am not going out tonight, opting instead to recreate a pretzel salad that I had a slice of at lunch today. Mine did NOT come out looking near as pretty and well put together as the restaurants, but hopefully it tastes as good!

Tomorrow I am leaving for Mobile to both visit my grandparents, and to do a litttle shopping. Mobile has GREAT boutiques!

Lazy..Thursday?

I didn't post yesterday, partly because I was busy cleaning out MY LIFE, and partly because I really didn't have much to post about. I took 24 hours, and starting with my pajamas cleaned out allllll my clothes (t's, shorts, tanks, blouses, pants, skirts, dresses etc.); anything that either didn't fit, or there was no way I would ever wear it again, I put in a labeled bag, and let Ames (little sis) go through and pick what she liked or didn't like.. the rest will go to Hannah Home. I did save all of my Spain Park/Spain Park Volleyball t's so that maybe one day I can make a t-shirt blanket to remember it all with.

After finishing cleaning out everything, I went to Belk and made a few returns, and got some new makeup I had needed to replenish for a while! But the real fun came at 7:30 when I got together with a few of my favorite people, who I hadn't seen in a while! Maggie (UA), Mallory (AU), Mackenzie (AU), Kathleen (UA) and I met up for dinner, and then went to my house to catch up. We had such a fun time, and I really realize how much I am going to miss all these girs when I move to Tuscaloosa in 23 days (still not counting ;))

And today, I am working (til 1.. yay) and then going back to Belk, becuase I hear there's a Lily Pulitzer sale going on right now.. she's my girl! then ZUMBA with Maggie, Kathleen, Hannah, Sarah, Mackenzie and Mallory. I'm glad we're getting more and more girls to come! It's so much fun! I will get some pictures tonight for sure! Now back to watching Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, my role model and fave show ever!

Manic Monday

AHH! Today has been crazy! I woke up later than I'd planned, and was rushing to be at Spain Park (my ex-high school) to meet Maggie and Mrs. Copeland, one of the home economic teachers who specializes in sewing. Mrs. Copeland graciously agreed to sew alllllll of our dorm room linens, this included: A headboard (we made!), chair covers, window treatments, and large barrel pillows. Last Friday, we finished the headboards and started both the chair covers and the curtains. Today, we almost finished both of those, and tomorrow Maggie is meeting again to finish everything while I work, and babysit. I'm so thankful for both of them! Our dorm room is sure to be the cutest (not that I'm biased or anything!) I took plenty of pictures, and have set up a photobucket, so I will load those later!

And now, for my new favorite part of the week. Starting last week, Maggie, a few other friends and I started ZUMBA, the most fun workout you will ever do. I actually ENJOYED burning calories to fun songs last week!! It's from 6-7 every Monday and Thursday at a local church with a friend of Maggie's mother teaching! I am going to try to get a few pictures tonight, although it might be hard since I will be breakin it down!

I'll post pictures later for my abundant 2 followers! Thanks guys!

My First Blog!

YAY! So I finally made a blog, after watching my friend Candace's for so long, it's finally my turn! I guess I'll have to get used to writing my thoughts out to a computer, because I think it will really be a great way for all of my family and friends both in Tuscaloosa, and at home to keep up with me! My roommate (and best friend) Maggie is helping me make this right now, and soon, she'll have one too! Can't wait! We move in in exactly 27 days, and that's 27 days that can't pass quick enough! I'll have to get Candace to help me figure out how to load pictures and stuff, but until then, I'm working the kinks out!
